The 2017 Ross County CASH Coalition, a partnership with the United Way of Ross County, Southeastern Ohio Legal Services, Ross County Community Action, Ohio University-Chillicothe, IRS/Volunteer Tax Assistance Program, launches the 10th year of FREE tax filing assistance to wage earners with annual household income up to $54,000.00. Last year the Coalition helped 1200 Ross County Taxpayers obtain $1.7 million in tax refunds.
"Four out of five workers claim and get the EITC they earned. We want to make sure eligible workers do not miss out on thousands of dollars because they may have failed to claim the EITC. Our goal is to reach out to potentially qualifiying workers, educate them about the credit, and motivate them to file and to claim it." stated Traci Harris, Community Impact Manager, United Way of Ross County. "This program's specially trained community volunteers are IRS/VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) trained to navigate the tax filing process and help taxpayers."
In addition to tax preparation and free efiling, free direct deposit is available for fast refunds. Taxpayers with established checking or savings accounts can receive tax refunds in as few as 10-14 days after filing.
